Hair Study

I thought drawing hair would be fairly straightforward, but it turns out it's surprisingly difficult. This is my first drawing of hair that's not completely terrible, and as you can see there's still lots of room for improvement—it's basically just a mess of varied colors, with most of the definition coming from the white gel pen. I did have some reasonable partitioning of hair into locks earlier, but the paper got burnished really quickly (it's ordinary printer paper). I didn't draw it any more in profile because I'm scared of drawing people, but hopefully the few extra lines should still give the impression there's a person here.
